Welcome to the Elwood Community Schools home page. My name is Chris Daughtry and I am the Superintendent for the Elwood Community School Corporation. Elwood is located in the heart of Indiana and has the great advantage of being within a short commute of Noblesville, Fishers, Anderson, Muncie, Marion, Kokomo and downtown Indianapolis. The Elwood Schools have approximately 1500 students in grades K – 12. We also have approximately 100 students that we serve in a wide range of pre-school classes. Elwood boasts many opportunities for students with a wide range of Dual Credit and Advanced Placement courses, outstanding Music and Art departments, the Hinds Career Center for vocational preparation, and a wide array of varsity athletics and clubs for student participation.
I believe in the Elwood Schools and the Elwood community. That is what brought me here with my wife and four daughters, who attend the Elwood Schools. We wanted that small town environment for our children, but still wanted to have access to the opportunities that come with being on the doorstep of the Indianapolis community. Before coming to Elwood, I was the Superintendent of Schools at the Central Noble Community Schools in Northern Indiana. Prior to that, I was the Director of Transportation at the Tippecanoe School Corporation in Lafayette, IN. I have also served as a building principal, assistant principal and started my career as a 3rd grade teacher. I am also a proud veteran of the United States Air Force.
Take a look for yourself at what Elwood has to offer. We can provide a small school/small town environment where students are known by name and not by a number. Yet, we also still provide the rich academic and extra-curricular environment that you would find in those larger schools. I would encourage you to schedule a visit any of our schools by calling our main number at (765) 552-9861.
